Responsibility for environmental and social issues locally has for many years been an important part of the Radisson Blu Arlandia Hotel’s commitment to sustainable development. Through the hotel's Responsible Business Program, we perform a series of ongoing activities to take responsibility.

Becoming an ecolabelled conference facility means we made it easy for our guests to make a good environmental choice. Our ambition is to offer the most environmentally friendly meeting options possible, while maintaining the highest quality and standard.

• Being an Ecolabelled conference facility places heavy demands on our products and services regarding sorting and recycling, organic food and reducing energy and water consumption.
• The Ecolabel certification also means that we continually raise the requirements and develop our environmental policies.

During 2008, Radisson Blu Arlandia Hotel became both Climate Neutral and certified by the Nordic Ecolabel (Svanen). Obtaining the Nordic Ecolabel means that the hotel has undergone a raft of changes in all parts of the operation. The Climate Neutral certification means that the hotel measures the volume of its own carbon dioxide emissions in order to carbon offset this in development projects around the world. The goal of the certifications is to reduce the environmental impact with every year that passes.

Some examples of action that has been taken:

• Use of 100 % renewable energy guarantee.
• Extensive training program within the framework of the chain's policy, Responsible Business, which all personnel will undergo.
• Use of more than 70 % environmentally approved dishwasher, washing and drying agents.
• 100 % use of environmentally approved copy paper and conference pads.
• Development of action plans to reduce the environmental impact of energy, water, waste and chemicals.
• Over 90 % of the hotel lighting consists of low energy bulbs and over 90 % of all rooms have a master switch installed.
• The hotel has replaced two of four cars with environmentally friendly cars.
• Increased range of Organic and Fair-Trade food in the restaurant

Thanks to these actions we have decreased our energy consumption by 85 %. This achievement would not have been possible without the commitment from our guests, with reducing energy consumption by turning off the light, separate waste and minimizing water consumption.
