The seventh renewal of the "official" SWATCH FIVB World Championships will be held from June 26th through July 5th as the planet's top Beach Volleyball players return to Stavanger. This annual event has become Norway's top sporting event during the summer months. The 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Championships presented by ConocoPhillips will feature both pool and single-elimination competition as the top 48 men’s and women’s teams compete for the US$1-million in prize money. Over 150,000 spectators are expected to view the international Beach Volleyball action as competition will be held on three courts, including 8,000 and 1,500-seat areas. The quarter-finals and semi-finals will be played July 4th with the medal matches July 5th.
The 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Championships will be televised internationally with more than 80 hours of "live" transmission.
