Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility
Responsible Business - Let’s take responsibility
Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the broader commitment of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, cultural heritage, employee and children’s rights, health and safety and environmental improvements.
The hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and the corporate international charity organisation supported by the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to defend the rights of the child and promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children all over the world.
This hotel’s Responsible Business activities include:
- Close cooperation with NABU and the Saxon Ministry of the Environment since 2013
- Effective waste-separation system of five recyclables (glass, paper, plastic, metal and organic waste)
- Exclusive use of energy-saving lamps throughout hotel
- Green Key certification 2012, 2013 and 2014
- Installation of an electric filling station in our hotel car park allowing free charging of electric vehicles
- Meals to volunteers at the Elbe flood in June 2013
- Non-smoking protection for all employees throughout hotel
- Regular training of all employees
- Regular participation in September’s Responsible Business
International Coastal Cleaning Day
In September 2013, our employees collected plastic waste from the previous June’s Elbe flood. This action is carried out annually with the support of NABU. The hotel plans to participate again in September 2014 donations for the victims of the typhoon in the Philippines.
In December 2013, we collected one euro per guest upon departure, as well as through a donation box. Money collected was donated to the German Red Cross (DRK).
Since 2010 guests can donate a “Childhood euro” at check-out. The amount is transferred from the hotel to the World Childhood Foundation.
Hotel staff participates each spring in Dresden’s city cleanup Elbwiesenreinigung.
Once per year for Earth Hour, millions of people in over 100 countries turn off the lights to signal their demand for more climate protection and a secure energy future for people and nature.
Christmas in a shoebox
In the annual campaign Operation Christmas Child, our employees pack shoeboxes with small gifts for distribution to children in Eastern Europe.
Healthy Break Bread
In September 2011, two employees of the hotel visited the School of Speech Healing to speak to children about a balanced diet. They also helped prepare a healthy breakfast.
