Il Majjistral Park
Lying to the north west of Malta, adventurous travellers can find the wild expanse of the Il Majjistral Park. Characterised by dramatic coastal scenery and rural inland wilderness, the Il Majjistral Park is a region of untamed beauty.
Extending from Golden Bay to Anchor Bay, and spread inland to the small rural village of Maikata, Malta's first national park is five times the size of its capital, Valletta. Visitors will find breath-taking scenery with panoramas of rocky cliffs crumbling into the piercing blue Mediterranean and spectacular views out to Gozo’s majestic Ta’ Cenc cliffs.
Experience the best of both worlds while roughing it in Il Majjistral Park by staying at a five star hotel in Malta - the Radisson Blu Resort and Spa, Malta Golden Sands.
Significance of Malta's National Park
Declared a national park in 2007, the Il Majjistral Park is Malta’s first and only national park. Most of the park area forms part of the Natura 2000 network of protected areas in the EU.
The Il Majjistral Park marks an important initiative by the Maltese government to conserve the natural, historical, archaeological and rural heritage of Malta. Rich in biodiversity, Il Majjistral hosts more than 400 species of plant and a variety of local as well as migratory animals.
