Green Key Certification

The Radisson Blu Hotel, Batumi has been a recipient of the Green Key eco-label since September 2012. Green Key is the largest worldwide eco-label for hotels, offering a certification programme intended to increase the awareness of owners, staff, suppliers and clients of the potential for action on environmental and sustainability issues. It is an external recognition of this hotel’s energy and water savings, waste management, environmental management, guest involvement and other efforts.

Torbjörn Bodin, general manager of the Radisson Blu Batumi, stated, “Our aim is to set clear goals for environmental education and sustainable development by the owner, staff, stakeholders, suppliers  and clients; to reduce the impacts of the facility; to practice economical management through a reduction of consumption leading to a reduction of costs; and to use a marketing strategy promoting the label and the facility’s award.”

The hotel is working to save 10% on water consumption, to reduce energy consumption per guest by 5% and to spend 10% of the total food budget on organically grown products. These efforts take place within the larger context of Think Planet, Rezidor’s ambitious project aimed at reducing energy consumption by 25% in five years.
