Bratislava plays host to several festivals throughout the year, from the International Film Festival Bratislava to the Bratislava Wine Festival, there are events all year round for visitors to enjoy. Many festivals in Bratislava take place during summer and autumn, as well as over Christmas. The festival season starts off with the RĂ¡dio Expres Festival on Zlate Piesky Lake, featuring some of the best Slovakian singers from around the country, and then continues with a diverse mix of other festivals year round.

Throughout August, the Organ Music Days Festival provides a big draw for tourists and locals, paying tribute to the traditions of Slovakian culture. The following month in September is the start of the Bratislava Music Festival Series, a festival celebrating classical music and jazz, playing host to performances by philharmonics from around the world.

The Bratislava International Film Festival in November showcases contemporary cinema from world-renowned film makers. The festival runs competitions for the best feature film, documentary and short film, plus awards for actors, actresses and directors.

To finish the year, the Christmas markets are a key feature of Bratislava in December, with the official markets taking place in the city's Main Square, plus adjacent markets in the Old City area of Hviezdosavovo to get visitors into the holiday spirit. You can buy food, seasonal gifts and discover regional arts and crafts, and Bratislava's Christmas markets can be a real highlight to a break spent in the city.
