Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.

Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel:

• In 2008 we invited primary school children to draw their dreams of a hotel, all these pictures were exhibited on the 1st floor of the hotel for two months;
• We support the "In Hope of Recovery Foundation", offering complimentary rooms for children and their families who are coming to Budapest to fulfill a child's wish;
• The employees of the Hotel work in their free time at the reconstruction works for the "In Hope of Recovery Foundation" new home section. The new flat home of blind children, which prepares the young teenager for an independent life, will partly be equipped with used furniture of the Hotel;
• We started a found raise for the "In Hope of Recovery Foundation" new home section: due to a clothes exchange in the Hotel the employees could raise money, too. Guests are invited to support the project with the help of a donation box.
• We installed water saving aerators to the shower heads and taps in guest rooms to save water (resulting approximately 30% water saving);
• We received the Green Hotel Award 2009-2010 due to our eco-friendly operation;
• We increased the number of employees with Responsible Business training to 100 % connected with a half day team-building group activity;
• Clothes Exchange: twice a year hotel employees bring in the outgrown clothes of their children. Hotel laundry cleans them, the employees can select the fitting ones and take them home.
• "Giving Blood saves lives": under this theme blood donation is organized in the hotel four times a year. The past three times we specially donated the blood to a former colleague of Radisson Blu Béke Hotel, who needs transfusions to recover;
• Radisson team supporting the yearly "I love Budapest" campaign: collecting garbage, cleaning graffiti's and tiding public parks with playgrounds.
