Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek

Sumibiya

The Radisson Blu hotel is pleased to present the first yakiniku-style restaurant in Dubai. Offering an interactive dining experience, dishes are prepared on a grill built into each table for an authentic Japanese meal. The dining room features a series of semi-private booths, as well as open tables.

As a yakiniku-style restaurant, Sumibiya offers diners an "Eat and Drink - All You Can" BBQ buffet every night. The buffet features an endless spread of delicious dishes, thirst-quenching beverages and an opportunity for diners to interact with one another. From the best pickled starters to a fine selection of marinated beef, seafood and chicken with special sauces, diners can enjoy a delicious meal, unlimited house wine, Grolsch beer and soft beverages for only Dhs. 180 per person.

It began in Korea hundreds of years ago. It was perfected in Japan. And in Dubai, the city can now enjoy the yakiniku experience. The concept is simplicity itself and literally translates as grilled (yaki) meat (niku). All the tables are built around a central grill, tailor-made by SHINPO in Tokyo. Guests become a master chef by grilling their meat, seafood and vegetables. The ingredients are wonderfully fresh and enhanced by a number of Korean classic, including the legendary fermented cabbage dish called kimchi.

All dishes are carefully prepared by Japanese chef Nakagawa and his team to ensure only the best is presented to real master chef - you! For those not familiar with Korean food, they tend to like things hot and red chili paste is a major part of the experience. While the idea and many of the ingredients are Korean, the execution is very Japanese; it's stylish, fast and a lot of fun.

Central to the Sumibiya experience is the restaurant's design, executed by leading Singaporean hospitality and leisure designer, David Tokiwa. From the warm lighting to the clean lines and neutral tones, the emphasis is on cosy simplicity. Clever use of contemporary drapes and Japanese lanterns allow the staff to create little private spaces away from the buzz of the main space. And in keeping with the interactive approach, the kitchen is a focal point of Sumibiya where the team of expert chefs performs their dazzling ritual of preparation and cooking.

At Sumibiya, food service is not about the starter, main course and so on. The Koreans like to put everything on the table at the same time, creating a unique version of tapas. Guests will see soups, rice dishes, different types of kimchi, dried fish and much more all laid out in one mesmerizing spread. Flavours range from the very spicy to sweet and sour, and the aromas are quite spectacular.
