Gallen-Kallela Museum

Akseli Gallen-Kallela, Finland’s national artist (1865-1931), designed and built from 1911 - 1913 a castle-like atelier home which is now a museum at Tarvaspää, Espoo. It opened to the public in 1961 as the Gallen-Kallela Museum. In the garden there is a lovely historic building, built in the 1850’s, which now serves as a café and restaurant.

The collections of the museum introduce the artist’s rich oeuvre, for example paintings, drawings, graphics, photographs, posters, sculpture and works of applied art. In addition, his personal effects and documents. At the museum, you can learn about his colorful life and friends.
