Slottsskogen

When the sun is shining, locals in Gothenburg flock to Slottsskogen, a 137 hectare park right in the middle of the city. Visitors can explore the historic Haga district one minute, and be surrounded by trees and wildlife at Slottsskogen the next.

Visitors can set off from the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Gothenburg, stopping off at Haga and then walking on to Slottsskogen for a wonderful day out in the city.

Park life in Gothenburg
Slottsskogen is much-loved by Gothenburg’s residents who refer to it as ‘the lungs of the city’ because it has such an expanse of beautiful woodland.

The park is perfect for a picnic and lazily stretching out on the grass while people-watching. But more active visitors can play volleyball, pick strawberries or have a game of miniature golf. Slottsskogen’s winding nature trails and fresh air make it popular with joggers, and it plays hosts to the Gothenburg Marathon every year.

A day out Slottsskogen is perfect for young families: children will enjoy seeing rabbits, penguins, ducks and ponies at the zoo.

As night falls, visitors can go stargazing at the observatory or catch an outdoor concert by the fantastic Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
