Istanbul is teeming with culture and history. There is an endless list of attractions that bring people here including the Basilica Cistern, Grand Bazaar, Galata Tower, Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, to name a few. It is not always possible to fit everything into your schedule in one trip to the city but by taking part in one of the many sightseeing tour options you may be able to do just this.
There are several bus tours operating in the city that offer a hop-on, hop-off service. This is the ideal way to explore the two sides of Istanbul, the Asian and European, and see the city’s landmarks at your own pace. The added advantage is that tours are guided, usually with audio guides so you will absorb information as you travel.
Alternatively, there are companies offering walking tours of the city, each one, catered to your interests or requirements. For example, themed tours include Relics, Ottoman, Two Continents and the Golden Horn. Evening tours are also available and are the ideal way to see the city come to life after dark.
Istanbul is unique in that it is split into two continents, divided by the Bosphorous straight, on either side flowing into the Black Sea and Marmara Sea. Taking to the water by guided cruise is a unique way to see the city from another perspective. Sail under the famous Bosphorus Bridge and past some of the famous buildings. Cruises can be combined with lunch, dinner and even theatre shows. For the more adventurous, you can even hire a yacht or boat and go exploring by yourself.
For those who prefer two wheels, Istanbul is a fairly easy city to negotiate by bike, especially when you are with a tour group. This is a good way to reach the famous landmarks but also a chance to avoid much of the city traffic, exploring the back streets. Alternatively, choose an off-road bike tour which takes you into surrounding forests.
There really is something for everyone when it comes to the best way to explore the fantastic city of Istanbul. The staff at Radisson Blu Hotel, Istanbul Sisli are happy to help you plan the best way to see the city and its sights.
