Responsible Business

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the broader commitment of the Rezidor Hotel Group to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business. Each hotel has a unique Responsible Business action plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety.

Since 2010, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Kraków has been active in participating socially, environmentally and culturally in responsible business actions, uniting under the common motto “Blu Loves Green”.

Some of the recent Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel include:

• First hotel in the world awarded with the prestigious BS9801 Certification, the most demanding standard in the area of sustainable Meetings and Events Management.
• Hotel provides Green Conference Package designed according to BS8901 certification rules: 1. Reducing negative impact on natural environment 2. Positive impact on local community 3. Reduction of production and exploitation costs.
• In 2010, hotel received the Green Key Certificate.
• Promote and actively participate in saving energy and water activities.
• Supporting local industry by using almost 80% of restaurants’ food from local suppliers.
• Children’s Happiness: helping children from orphanages by selling in some points at hotel bracelets-bricks. From the collected money, the hotel buys gifts for kids.
• IMEX Challenge: Radisson Blu Krakow was home for the children from Children’s Home in the time when green areas around their homes were renovated.
• Collecting help for flood victims in Krakow’s office buildings, in cooperation with Caritas Poland.
• Organization of Art Auction: auction of local artists' works (paintings and sculptures) to collect funds for children in orphanages. Donation of clothes, toys and other items are also encouraged.
• Possibility for the guests to use hotel's Blu Bicycles and providing bicycle parking places for employees and guests.
• ‘Follow us!’ encourage guests and citizens for a healthy morning jog with hotel management.
• With the Baby Blu Concept, the hotel endeavours for the youngest guests to have a nice and safe stay.
• Year-round, Project “Garden” helps in maintaining and planting gardens.
• Promoting ‘car-free Mondays’ within and outside hotel.
• Hotel rents bicycles for free to the guests.
• On Children Day we have invited kids from the Children’s home to the stud farm close to the city. Kids were riding horses and played with animals.
• Well-equipped gym and sauna are at the guests’ disposal for a healthier lifestyle.
• Sponsoring and active participation in Cracovia Marathon in-house activities.
• RB training for hotel employees.
• Yearly fire drill training for employees.
• The hotel collects used batteries in boxes.
