Exploring the Cannon Museum in Kristiansand
During the German occupation of Norway in the Second World War, the Kristiansand Cannon was built to defend the Skagerak shipping lanes from Allied navies. Weighing 337 tonnes, the impressive cannon is 380mm in calibre and is one of the museum's most impressive wartime artefacts. The barrel alone weighs 110 tons and measures 19.76 metres in length. The weapon, the second-largest land cannon ever built, is so powerful that its range stretches halfway to Denmark.

The museum explains the history and structure of the cannon in detail and has many other materials and artefacts from World War II. In addition to souvenirs, the Kristiansand Cannon Museum also sells Norwegian military clothing.
