Discover the history of Al Boom Kuwait
The history of the Al Boom Kuwait starts in 1979 when the construction of the dhow Mohammedi II was ordered in Calicut, India. Mohammedi II was a replica of Mohammedi, the largest dhow in Kuwait's history, built 65 years earlier.

Mohammedi II took two years to complete and was shipped back to Kuwait in 1981 and anchored by the Radisson Blu Hotel to function as a restaurant. Carpenters brought especially from Malabar transformed the dhow into a replica of traditional trading Booms, while skilled woodcarvers worked on the decorative woodcarving inside.

Mohammedi II, known as Al Boom Kuwait is a unique restaurant and an impressive reminder of memorable era in Kuwait’s history - "built to commemorate the patriotic Kuwaiti seamen in recognition and glorification of their sacrifices"
