Traboules

Among the must-see attractions of Lyon are the historic traboules, the winding underground passageways used by silk merchants to transport their wares. Today, guests can explore Lyon's Old Quarter by following the traboules as they meander through the Croix-Rousse district, home to 230 of the well-worn paths. Additional traboules can be found between Terreaux square and the Ainay district, wending their way to Bellecour place. More than 40 traboules are open to the public, with the most intriguing ones found in the Saint Jean quarter.

Notable traboules:

  • Saint Jean Street - 24, 27, 54
  • Boeuf Street - 1, 14, 16, 27
  • Trois Maries Street - 5
