Responsible Business - Let’s take responsibility
Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the broader commitment of the Rezidor Hotel Group to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. To read more about the RB programme, please go to http://www.responsiblebusiness.rezidor.com/.
The hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and The World Childhood Foundation, the international charity organisation supported by the Rezidor Hotel Group. The mission of The World Childhood Foundation is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.
Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel include:
Preserving Natural Resources and Decreasing Energy Consumption
- Charity: The hotel donates reusable furniture and blankets to charities, such as Arme du Salut (Salvation Army).
- Community Actions: The hotel organized a blood donation with the participation of guests, staff and local companies.
- Energy Efficiency: The hotel uses energy-efficient light bulbs in all public spaces and the guest rooms. Light sensors have been installed in public spaces. Lighting in rooms is linked to a master switch operated by the room key. In 2008, the hotel saved the energy equivalent of 40 households.
- Renewable Energy: Half of the hotel's energy comes from renewable resources.
- Waste Sorting and Recycling: Waste-sorting has been set up in the hotel's operational departments, and guests can dispose of their used batteries at the Guest Relation Desk. Printer cartridges are collected for reprocessing.
