Let’s take responsibility
Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the Rezidor Hotel Group’s broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, cultural heritage, employee and children’s rights, health and safety, as well as environmental improvements. To read more about the RB programme, please go to responsiblebusiness.rezidor.com.
Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor’s corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world. See www.childhood.org for further information.
Below are some of the RB activities and achievements of this hotel:
Our environment commitment: preserving natural resources and decreasing energy consumption
- Water saving: all taps in the hotel are equipped with water flow reducers and public taps are equipped with water sensors; all toilets are equipped with economic flushes. Guests are invited to reuse towels (card displayed in the bathroom)
- Energy efficiency: we use energy efficient light bulbs in all public spaces and in the rooms.
Light sensors have been installed in public spaces. Lighting in rooms is linked to a master switch working with room key.
In 2008, we saved the equivalent of the energy consumption of 40 households.
- We give priority to renewable energies.
50% of our energy comes from renewable resources. In the principle: our consumption of energy is reinvested in the production of green energy; this is the guarantee of our energy provider.
- Ecological cleaning solution: the cleaning products we are using are totally natural and produced on site using an electrolysis technology. This system has been certified by the European EN 1040. In addition to efficiency, it guarantees no toxic residue and complete respect for health and environment. More information on www.clinea.com
- Waste sorting & recycling: waste sorting has been set up in the operational departments of the hotel; we put at Guests disposal batteries collectors at the Guest Relation Desk; printer cartridges are collected by the provider for reprocessing.
Sorted waste part went from 6 to 10% between 2007 and wqity: part of our staff is trained to perform first aid.
- Charity: when renewing facilities, the hotel donates reusable furniture and blankets to Charity like the ‘Armée du Salut’.
- Community actions: we organized a blood donation with the participation of Guests, Staff and local companies.
