Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.

Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel:

• The Radisson Blu Grand Hotel, Sofia is winner of Investor in Human Resources Award by the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum.
• The Radisson Blu Grand Hotel, Sofia was granted the UNDP Global Compact award for strong environmental policy and support to mentally disabled children
• 1 EUR Charity Program - all guests willing to participate are surcharged 1EUR per stay. The collected money is donated to the Orphanage for Mentally Disabled Children that the hotel supports since 2001
• Active participation in local charity programs and initiatives - One Life Bulgaria, Cedar Foundation, International Women's Club, Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation and American Chamber of Commerce events.
• Focus on garbage separation, battery collection boxes, water and electricity consumption review and reduction
• Environmental friendly production of printed materials avoiding lamination
• Support of local artists and musicians as part of Bulgarian art life development
