Responsible Business – Let’s take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the broader commitment of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, cultural heritage, employee and children’s rights, health and safety, as well as environmental improvements.

The hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and the corporate international charity organisation supported by the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to defend the rights of the child and promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children all over the world.

The hotel practices Responsible Business in the following three areas:

  • Think people: taking care of the health and safety of guests and employees
  • Think planet: minimising environmental footprint
  • Think together: respecting social and ethical issues in the company and community

Recent actions include:

  • Agreement with the Polish Association for the Mentally Handicapped for the hotel to hire mentally disabled people in HSKP and Kitchen departments
  • Celebration of the International Day without Meat (20 March 2013) with items on the cafeteria's “green” menu, including broccoli soup, herb crepes with spinach and basil sauce, a kiwi drink and gooseberry jelly cheesecake
  • Green Key Certification since 2010
  • Hotel and reception staff worked in green "I'm eco" t-shirts to promote ecowork as part of the “Earth Hour” project (21 March 2013)

  • Participation in the Association of Friends of Children with Disabilities “Friendly 18” program, which promotes the expansion of knowledge and skills relating to the issues of people with disabilities
