Korsholm Church in Vaasa

Though nearby St Mary's Church is the oldest in the city, only its ruins remain, making Korsholm Church the preeminent place of worship in Vaasa.

Originally constructed between 1776 and 1786 as a court of appeal, the building was repurposed after a fire ravaged most of Old Vaasa in 1852. Architect Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz designed the first incarnation of the building, with the later modifications, including the church's prominent bell-tower, carried out by Carl Axel Setterberg.

Korsholm Church remains a must-see attraction in Old Vaasa, as it is only one of 24 buildings that survived the 1852 fire.
