Join a grand tradition at the Paris Marathon
While the first participants ran across the city in 1896, the marathon's modern tradition began in 1976. The Amaury Sport Organisation now stages the race each year in April.

The race starts on Avenue des Champs Elysées and winds through some of the most beautiful areas of Paris. Runners pass by the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Place de la Bastille during the course of the Marathon, finally following along the banks of the Seine and ending up at Avenue Foch in the 16th Arrondissement.

By the end of their journey, participants will have logged 42.195 kilometres - the standard marathon distance as determined by the Olympic Committee.
