Responsible Business

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.

Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel:

  • We have a cooperation with the local schools Norberg Skole ( high
    school) and BI the Norwegian School of Management where we hold
    presentations about the hospitality industry. We contribute with
    exam questions for students that have decided to take a career in the
    hospitality industry. We currently have two students who have decided
    to do their apprenticeship with us, they come from Norberg skole.
  • We donate all lost and found items that are older than 3 months to
    the Salvation army.
  • We sponser Ruben Chito and his family in Ecuador through PLAN-Norge(
    a non profit oganisation ) that is established in more than 50
    countries,PLAN strives to achieve lasting improvements in the quality
    of life of deprived children in developing countries through a
    process that unites people across cultures.
  • We are Swan Ecolabelled Hotel , and always review the criteria that
    is specified for this.
  • Starting September 2006 we intend to increase the number of employees
    with RB training to 100 %.
  • The hotel has a Nordic ecolabel: Svanemerket. The Swan is the official Nordic ecolabel, and it demonstrates that a product is a good environmental choice - introduced by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
