Beijing shot to international stardom as host to the 2008 Olympic Games, where the world got a glimpse inside the city like never before. Since then, tourism has boomed.

Beijing is an important commercial city in China and among the most important in the world. It is home to 41 Fortune Global 500 companies, second only in number to Tokyo.

Beijing has hot humid summers and dry cold winters. September and October are the best months to visit and from March to mid-May.
