  1. Visit the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary. More than 255 bird species either reside here year-round or migrate here at some point. Resident species include including saras cranes, golden orioles, red munias, green barbets and black drongos. The best time to visit is from October to March, when stalks and herons can be seen in the lake.
  2. Pop in to the Sri Mata Sheetla Devi Temple, only 1.5km from the Radisson Blu Hotel. The historic temple is the end point of one of the most important Hindu pilgrimages.
  3. Visit the World Heritage listed Qutb Minar, 18km from Gurgaon. The red sandstone minaret, reaching over 72m into the sky, is the world’s tallest brick minaret and was completed in 1386.
  4. Get in a round of golf at one of Gurgaon’s two 18-hole courses.
  5. Take an evening stroll or a picnic lunch to Leisure Valley Park, the Central Park of Gurgaon.
  6. Take a 25km trip to see Hamayun’s Tomb, the tomb of the second Mughal Emperor. The World Heritage listed tomb was the first garden-tomb in the Indian sub-continent and the first building to use red sandstone on such a scale. Its design reflects Persian influence in the region.
  7. Go shopping! Gurgaon has the most number of shopping malls of any district in India. Ambience Mall is the largest shopping mall in India.
  8. Marvel at the stunning lotus-shaped Baha’i Temple, whose peaceful philosophy aims to unite all people and faiths.
  9. Escape the heat in the Wet ‘n’ Wild theme park.

Gurgaon is one of the satellite cities that have grown to absorb the rapid growth and development of New Delhi.

Gurgaon is a fast-growing city situated 30km south of New Delhi and on the northern edge of the Aravali mountain range. It is connected to the capital city by the Delhi Metro and an expressway. It has the third highest per capita income in India and was the first Indian city to successfully deliver electricity to all its households.

While Gurgaon is a modern city, it is by no means ‘new’. According to Hindu mythology, Gurgaon is the ancestral village of Guru Dronacharya, the teacher of the Pandavas and Kauravas in the Indian epic, Mahabharata.

Gurgaon remained a small farming village until the launch of the Maruti automotive company provided the impetus for economic growth. By the 1990s, the Indian government was offering tax breaks to private firms to set up base here and its proximity to Delhi, as well as the availability of land, propelled Gurgaon to become the modern city it is today.

Gurgaon is one of the most prominent outsourcing and offshoring hubs in the world. It is also a centre for telecommunications companies, automobile manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. Shopping malls are one of its biggest money spinners.

Other Delhi satellite cities nearby include Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

The best time to visit Gurgaon is in the spring season, from February to April and from August to November.
