Responsible Business – Let’s take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the broader commitment of the Rezidor Hotel Group to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. The hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and the corporate international charity organisation supported by Rezidor Hotel Group, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world. Responsible Business activities and achievements:

• Energy-saving practices throughout the hotel
• Waste separation (glass, paper, plastic, residual waste)

• Blood Donation (twice annually)
• The "Gemeinsam Tafeln" annual dinner in Fleesensee to raise money for those in need.
• Every Wednesday the Schloss Resort donates hot soup to the "Warener Tafel," which provides a hot meal to about 150 people.

• Implementation of the RB Philosophy to new staff
• The independent testing organisation, TÜV Rheinland, has certified the environmental management system of 15 Radisson Blu hotels throughout Germany. This environmental management system has been implemented at the hotel. The aim of certification to the internationally recognised ISO 14001 standard is the systematic reduction of risks to the environment and the improvement of environmental performance. The introduction of the environmental management system brings certain considerable cost benefits for the hotel alongside positive ecological effects. As a result, the resort will make significant water and energy savings.
