Friguia Park, Hammamet

A fun-filled day out for both adults and children, Friguia Park in Hammamet has much to offer its visitors. The park is one of the first of its kind in North Africa, set up in collaboration with its European and South African counterparts. The aim is to educate the park’s visitors about preserving endangered species, and to take part in international breeding programmes, that will eventually lead to the reintroduction of animals to the wild. The park has been a success since opening to the public in 2000.

A total of over 400 animals and 60 species roam the park’s 36 hectares. There are animals from all corners of the world, including kangaroos, lemurs, lions and elephants. Wooden walkways lead you though the big cat enclosures, where you can observe cheetahs, lions and tigers roaming in the large enclosures. Twice daily, the sea lions put on a lively show for the audience.

Swimming with Majestic Dolphins
Perhaps the most entertaining park residents are the dolphins. Radisson Blu Resort & Thalasso, Hammamet guests can actually swim with dolphins. Book a half day excursion to Friguia Park to receive entrance to the park, a ticket for the dolphin show, wetsuit hire and a 30 minute swim with these majestic animals. In addition, you will also have a few hours to explore the rest of the wildlife park. Private transport will take you to and from your hotel. What better way to learn about dolphins than to swim with them?

Other Park Facilities
Friguia Park also has several snack bars, restaurants and picnic spots. Souvenir shops offer everything from jewellery, wooden African ornaments, leather items, to paintings.

Reaching the park from Hammamet is easy. A train will take you from the bay resort straight to the wildlife park. There are many other great cultural attractions in Hammamet to visit during your stay, such as The Great Mosque or George Sebastian Villa.
