Explore the Adriatic Islands from Split
There are several regions within the Adriatic Islands. The Southern Adriatic Islands stretch along Split and southward to Dubrovnik. These comprise some of the most populated of the Adriatic Islands and provide visitors to the region with plenty to do.
Brac Island, directly opposite from Split, achieved fame for its olive groves and vineyards. Here, guests can take a stroll along the world famous Zlatni Rat - a white pebble beach near the town of Bol - and enjoy its unspoiled surroundings.
The island of Hvar is also a popular tourist destination. It is famous for cultivating wine grapes, olives, figs, almonds and especially lavender, as well as for having one of the most fashionable centres in the Croatian part of the Adriatic.
Further exploration of the Adriatic Islands can be made by catamaran or row boat as the area has many island hopping routes available for tourists. The Jadrolinija mainline ferry connects Split with Rijeka or Dubrovnik and all central Dalmatian Islands. Regular international ferry lines run from Ancona and Pescara in Italy. The ferry port and main bus and train stations are three kilometres away.
