Responsible Business – Let’s take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the Rezidor Hotel Group’s broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, cultural heritage, employee and children’s rights, health and safety, as well as environmental improvements. Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor’s corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world. Environmental Friendly Initiatives / Activities

• All of our guestrooms and public areas are fitted with restrictors system to avoid wastage.
• The lights in all public areas are fitted with timers.
• All hotel staff and in-house guests participate in the annual Earth Hour.
• Entrapping Freon gas into cylinders instead of releasing in open environment.

• Yearly donations of discarded linen to local charities.
• Yearly Iftar-For-A-Cause for disabled and orphaned children.
• Yearly blood donations to local welfare society upon invitation.
• Participation in the “Give Away While You Stay” donations for disabled children in KSA.

• Ongoing HACCP system implementation.
• Setting up Health and Safety programs for guests and employees by FLHS members.
• Food For Thought concept at the Al Iwan Restaurant.
• Posters, charts and information board display.

• Living and Leading Responsible Business Programme is an ongoing and mandatory activity for all employees.
• On the job training of Responsible Business concepts to create further awareness.
• Energy and water conservation programmes in the hotel and staff house are fully implemented and constantly monitored.
• Ongoing recycling programme in all departments.

• You can take part on the “Give Away While You Stay” programme for disabled children. If you wish to participate, contact the front office.
• Towel Replacement Programme – you can help conserve water by simply reusing your towel. Kindly place it on the rack.
• You can help us save energy by turning off the light before leaving your room and keeping your gadgets e.g. laptops on energy saving modes.
