Rock Church Helsinki
Temppeliaukio Kirkko - or the Rock Church - is a Lutheran church in the centre of Helsinki that welcomes not just its congregation of worshippers but more than half a million tourists every year.
Opened in 1969, the Rock church is a very modern building with a circular copper dome ceiling and rock hewn walls that are much admired by fans of modern architecture. As well as being a place of worship and a popular tourist attraction, the Rock Church is often used as a venue for live music concerts as its rock walls have given the church note-worthy acoustics.
