Berlin Marathon - 24th September 2016

Thousands of runners pound the streets of Berlin each September during the Berlin Marathon. World athletics stars, running club members and fun-runners in fancy dress all line up to compete in the challenge, cheered on by the millions of spectators lining the route.

The Berlin Marathon starts and finishes near the Brandenburg Gate, and passes through the Mitte district. Our stunning first class hotel in Berlin is situated in this historic part of Berlin, making it a convenient option for anyone heading to the city for the race.

Record-breaking running at the Berlin Marathon
Like the Boston, Chicago, New York and London marathons, the Berlin Marathon is one of the World Marathon Majors, so it's a prestigious race to win. Previous Berlin Marathon winners like Geoffrey Mutai, Haile Gebrselassie, Patrick Makau Musyoki, Naoko Takahashi and Wilson Kipsang have broken world records at the race, so you may even be able to watch sporting history being made.

2015 Winners and Record Breakers

Eliud Kipchoge from Kenia is the winner of the 42nd Berlin Marathon. He stunningly finished the 42 kilometers in 2 hours and 4 minutes. Gladys Cherono, also from Kenia, ran the distance in 2 hours and 19 minutes.
But you don't need to be competing for the title to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere. Whether you're testing out your stamina or clapping from the side-lines, you're sure to have an amazing time - and you'll see some of Berlin's most famous landmarks, too.
