Berlinale – Berlin International Film Festival
Berlinale is one of the city's most important annual events. Over 11 days more than 300,000 enthusiasts, including 20,000 professional visitors from 122 countries, come to the city to watch over 400 films. With everyone coming to soaking up the magical atmosphere at star-studded, red-carpet premieres that take place all around the city.
What’s on during the festivalThe film festival features a number of major events for film industry professionals including the European Film Market (EFM), the Berlinale Co-Production Market and the Berlinale Talent Campus, as well as workshops and panel discussions.
For film lovers, the festival's main draw is its packed film screening schedule. It includes the latest releases from around the world, independent and art house films, documentaries, shorts and new discoveries from the German film scene.
The festival also features an array of awards including the coveted Golden Bear and Silver Bear. Belonging to the most renowned awards in the international film industry, they’re presented by an international jury to the ‘competition’ program at the festival. This program is the heart of the festival and features around 25 world and international premieres. For decades, it has been setting trends in cinema.
You’ll also find unique cinematic experiences during the festival, such as Culinary Cinema. Watch the latest release films and then enjoy a menu inspired by the night’s film, created by a top chef, after the screening.
