Biarritz for Families

You’ll find magic at every turn in Biarritz, the perfect destination for young and old alike. Roam the area’s golden beaches, go horseback riding, spend a day shopping or at the spa and explore the rich history of this diverse area in southern France.

Things to do for children
For children, Biarritz has an array of activities. Surfing, rafting, kayaking, horseback riding, tennis and swimming are great ways to keep your kids entertained. They’ll also enjoy the Planet Chocolate Museum, the Biarritz Aquarium and the City of the Ocean. You can enjoy golf, a day at the spa, thalassotherapy, shopping and relaxing on the beach or by the pool.

Take your family to the lovely Port Vieux beach, a sheltered cove with calm waters that is perfect for young swimmers. Port Vieux is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel and has a beach club that offers swimming lessons for children. For a more active beach, visit the Grande Plage, which has children’s beach clubs, restaurants and even surfing schools.

Outdoor fun
For an adventure in nature, be sure to visit the spectacular Caves of Sare, which are full of unusual geological formations and artifacts from the early people who lived in the area. Then take a ride on the Petit Train de La Rhune, a train from the 1920s that still runs through the beautiful Basque mountains. The train ends at the top of La Rhune, where you can see the peaks of the Pyrenees and the blue waters of the Bay of Biscay.
