The O2 Academy has been the premier destination for world-class live music in the city for decades, and has three stages within the venue to accommodate crowds of all sizes. Whether you're keen on catching the latest and greatest rock and indie bands or want to dance the night away at an exciting club night, the O2 Academy offers some of the best music events in Birmingham.

Experience the best in live music

The O2 Academy has been known by various names over the years. In 2000, the Birmingham Academy was launched with a concert by Ocean Colour Scene after extensive refurbishment of an existing venue called Hummingbird, which had previously played host to the likes of Nirvana, The Beastie Boys and Sonic Youth. In 2008, the venue adopted the name O2 Academy Birmingham, then moved to its current home on Bristol Street in 2009, where it opened with concerts from The Editors and The Streets.

At this location, the O2 Academy continues to bring in a veritable who's-who of local and international pop and rock acts, as well as to stage regular club nights. Some of the artists featured in recent years are Two Door Cinema Club, Biffy Clyro, Bombay Bicycle Club, Paloma Faith, The Prodigy, Brandon Flowers and George Ezra, as well as local favourites Black Sabbath.

The Bristol Street location incorporates 3 distinct performance areas to host events of any size, from massive concerts to intimate gigs. Academy1 can accommodate around 3,000 spectators, while Academy2 and Academy3 can host 600 and 289 guests, respectively. So whatever type of performance you prefer, you're sure to find something entertaining at this versatile venue.

After a great night at the O2 Academy, you don't even have to travel far to reach a comfortable bed at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Birmingham. The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the celebrated venue, and is also close to other area attractions, like the Jewellery Quarter.
