Lazy days in Herastrau Park
A gorgeous splash of green in a city of architectural wonders, Herastrau Park is a fabulous place to relax and soak up nature. This glorious park encompasses an amazing 187 hectares in the heart of Bucharest and is a popular recreational area. On a sunny day, it is the go to place. Even on the busiest of days, it is easy to find yourself a quiet spot under the willow trees. Formally a marsh area, this tranquil space was transformed into landscaped lawns, trails, flowers and trees, all centered around Herastrau Lake.
Fun for all ages
A Village Museum was opened in the park. This stunning collection of outdoor exhibits depicts many of the Balkan's most famous buildings and is a popular attraction. There is also a Reef Aquarium, which is home to more than 300 different types of marine life including sharks, rays and sea horses as well as an array of corals and crustaceans. This is a fascinating adventure for kids who can spot their favorites and learn of new sea creatures they have never seen before. Families can also have hours of fun on the aerial assault course at Herastrau’s Adventure Park. There are also tennis and football facilities. In winter, the ice rink entertains all ages.
Culture and action
There are many concerts and performances taking place at the open-air summer theatre and exhibitions at the park’s pavilions, a great way to delve into local culture. The large lake is also a major attraction in the park and it is possible to take boat trips to see the city from a new perspective, or hire water sports equipment and fishing gear.
Take a break from attractions, shopping and the bustle of the city and set aside some time in your vacation itinerary to visit Herastrau, easily reached from the Radisson Blu Hotel, Bucharest.
