Two Oceans Aquarium

What better place to position an aquarium than where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet on the southern tip of the African coast. The aptly named Two Oceans Aquarium is located in the heart of Cape Town’s Waterfront.

The aquarium opened in 1995 and showcases an array of sea life from these two great oceans. It has since become one of the city’s most popular attractions, particularly amongst family groups. With over 3,000 sea species, the aquarium not only gives visitors the chance to view unusual wildlife that they would not normally see, it also raises awareness and educates people about conservation. Amongst the sea life found in this aquarium in central Cape Town are sharks, penguins, turtles, frogs and a huge variety of fish and sea plants.

Penguin Encounter
For an unforgettable experience, why not join the keeper of the rock penguins for an intimate Penguin Encounter. Whilst meeting the birds in their enclosure, the bird trainer will teach you about the birds and their habitats. This is a private face-to-face encounter not to be missed. Tickets also include entry to the rest of the aquarium.

Planning your visit
The aquarium, located at V & A Waterfront, is open year round with set daily feeding times at various enclosures. Plan your trip to the aquarium and watch the ravenous sharks being fed at the I & J Predator Exhibit. For a more peaceful experience, make sure you visit the Sappi River Meander Exhibit for the feeding of the African penguins.
