Fairytale Christmas Markets

Visiting the Christmas markets in Cologne is a magical experience and is sure to bring out the festive spirit in all those who join. Find yourself enveloped in reds, greens and trees full of snow as you browse the incredible selection of goods for sale. The city has a number of markets to choose from, making it the ideal destination for anyone looking for unique gifts or tasty seasonal treats.

Soak up the festive atmosphere
Cologne’s markets open at the end of November, after the first events of the annual carnival have taken place, and continue until Christmas Eve. For the ultimate in festive tradition, visit the city’s oldest market, Angel’s Market, held on Neumarkt. This enchanting bundle of stalls is a great place to find locally produced, high-end arts and handmade crafts.

The largest Christmas market, Am Dom, takes place by the city’s cathedral and features 160 charming wooden pavilions, selling toys, crafts and delicious German snacks. Children will adore the Market of Fairytales on Rudolfplatz, with its giant fairytale figures, and the Alter Markt, where the sparkling lights twinkle and gnomes peek down at visitors from the top of each stall. Enjoy the smells of the season, as wafts of cinnamon and mulled wine cling to the air around you. Perhaps join in and do a little ice-skating while you let the sights and lights warm your heart with that unbeatable holiday feeling.

The markets take place in the center, close to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cologne. Stay here and receive a warm welcome, however chilly the winter weather. Spend an atmospheric evening among the stalls before returning to your elegant hotel for a delicious hot meal and a peaceful night’s sleep.
