Dhahran Techno Valley

If you are in Dhahran for business or you just find technology and science interesting, the Techno Valley is the place for you to visit. Explore the King Abdullah Science Park and the technology exhibition Scitech. The latter is also a good place to bring your kids for an educational and fun day in the name of science.

This business cluster was established in the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 2006, to attract research and development centers of both local and international companies. It was also made in the hopes of promoting new businesses in the area. In addition to the Science Park and Scitech, Dhahran Techno Valley includes an innovation center, a liaison office, a business incubator and an industrial office.

Bring the kids to Scitech

As mentioned, Scitech is a good place for technology-loving parents to bring their kids. While you get to explore the many innovative ideas exhibited, the kids can experience a wide range of scientific subjects. The two-floor museum’s first floor holds a store and a geographical introduction to Saudi Arabian Imax cinema, which shows a variety of documentaries. Upstairs you’ll find several different sections, each dedicated to its own direction of science, including an excellent fish tank. Make sure to ask for a pair of their Bluetooth headphones, so that you’ll get instructions and information in English.

The Prince Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Science Park

Another interesting part of the Techno Valley is the Prince Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Science Park, established in 2002. The 300,000-square meter site is located north side of the university’s main campus. This close proximity makes it easy for firms, their personnel, university scientists and engineers to cooperate. Most of the firms located here are involved in the petroleum and chemical industry, but also the growing IT sector.

A day of exploring the Saudi Arabian world of technology and science provides many new impressions. So make sure to book a room at Radisson Blu Hotel Dhahran, where you can cool off in the nice hotel or enjoy the view from the balcony. It’s the perfect place to recharge your batteries and get ready for the rest of your stay in the city.
