Engineers put a lot of time and effort into the Dubai Fountain, and it shows. The fountain launches some 22,000 gallons of water into the air, with streams reaching heights of over 500 feet. The 6,600 WET Superlights and 25 colour projectors emit around 1.5 million lumens of light, and the spotlght from the top of the fountain can be seen from 20 miles away.
The world's largest fountain has several scheduled performances each day. The displays vary according to accompanying music, which has included Arabic and Swahili favourites, but also popular Western songs. Afternoon shows commence at 1pm and 1:30pm, and the fountain performs every half hour between 6pm and 11pm Sunday through Wednesday and between 6pm and 11:30pm Thursday through Saturday.
