The Boyne Valley is the stunning landscape that rises up around the famous River Boyne, just north of Dublin. The valley is approximately 40 minutes by car from the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dublin Airport. It’s a trip worth making as there are plenty of activities in the picturesque surroundings to please everyone, from festivals to great golf courses and horse racing. The valley is also home to a number of prehistoric tombs that form part of the UNESCO World heritage site of Brú na Boinne, of which Newgrange is a part.
Discover a magical historyThe Boyne Valley is one of Ireland's most magical and important historical areas. County Meath is known as the Royal County, the place from which the Kings and Queens of Ireland ruled their lands. No visit to this hallowed location would be complete without a visit to the Hill of Tara. This high point in the landscape was the actual seat of the High Kings of Ireland; the centre of spiritual and political life in ancient Ireland. Discover what life was like in the first few centuries AD with audiovisual tours and informative guides.
Horse racing is a huge part of Irish culture, but Laytown Races, the racecourse in the Boyne Valley, is unique. The course is the only official beach course in the whole of Europe. Races are all run down the golden sand at Laytown – quite a sight. Other notable attractions in the valley are Killeen Castle Golf Club, with a course designed by champion golfer Jack Nicklaus, and the beautiful Slane Castle Estate.
