Attending the Frankfurt Marathon
The marathon course is straightforward and fast, leading the runners through Frankfurt's city centre, then into the Sachsenhausen district and onto Hoechst. The course then doubles back along the Mainzer Landstrasse and into the city centre once more. For those competitors hardy enough to reach the end, the marathon has a red-carpet finish at the 'Festhalle' in the Trade Fair Tower.
The race has separate classifications for men and women, with the record for the men's event held by Kenyan Wilson Kipsang (2 hours 3 minutes 42 seconds), and the women's record was set by Ethiopia's Mamitu Daska (2 hours 21 minutes and 59 seconds). Both records were set during the 2011 event.
