Ek Sê Tours
Keen to share the inspiring and unique tales of South Africa, Ek Sê Tours and its founder Lesika Matlou are on a mission to showcase the country in all its vibrancy, one story at a time. Started in 2011, the tour company aims to offer visitors the chance to experience the province’s diverse cultures and rich history.
Lesika moved to bustling Johannesburg from a small rural village three hours outside of the city to realize his dream of becoming a tour operator and entrepreneur. He took part in the ground-breaking Awethu Project, which identifies and develops potential entrepreneurs in under-resourced South African communities, outperforming 700 other applicants to be selected for the project.
Soak up South African cultureThere are some great Ek Sê Tours to choose from, as well as the option to book airport shuttles or other forms of transport to take you to the multitude of events, concerts, festivals and sports matches that regularly take place throughout the Gauteng region. Services are available for those staying in the area, which encompasses the business district of Sandton.
One of the tour highlights has to be the African Culinary Tour, which will take you on a culinary journey of Nigerian, Ghanaian, Cameroonian and Ethiopian cuisine. The tour also includes a brief walking tour of the colorful and vibrant suburb of Yeoville.
Action packed toursAnother great trip to consider is the Amazing Race Soweto, an action-packed, adrenaline-filled race through parts of Soweto. Teams must complete a series of challenges that expose them to the opportunity to learn and experience life in the popular South African township. It’s the perfect teambuilding exercise for business travelers as well as a great outing for friends and family.
There are also plenty more itineraries to choose from that promise to offer an authentic experience of South African culture, such as: The Alexandra Bicycle Tour, a trip to The Cradle of Human Kind World Heritage Site and a visit to the Elephant Sanctuary.
The Ek Sê Tours center is easily reached by taxi or car from the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg. Conveniently located next to Constitution Hill, this spot is an ideal place for you to embark on a journey through South Africa in order to learn about the country’s rich history.
