Go Safari – see the Big Five

If you’d like to seek out the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros) during your trip to South Africa but don’t have much time to spare, consider a day tour with Go Safari. Scheduled so that you’re not exploring in the extreme midday heat, the Pilanesberg Day Safaris start in late afternoon and last into the evening. Not only can you experience a striking sunset, but you'll also visit during the time when the African bush comes alive. After all, lions, leopards and hyenas are all primarily nocturnal animals.

What to expect from a day safari

The fully-qualified guides are not only knowledgeable, but welcoming, friendly and dedicated to making sure you enjoy your experience. To increase your chances of seeing some magnificent wildlife, all of the vehicles on safari keep in radio contact with one another to flag sightings.

The entire tour lasts 11 hours, with transport departing Johannesburg at 09:30 and returning at 21:00 – note that times may differ slightly depending on the time of year. This trip includes a stop-off for a three-course lunch, as well as a visit to a traditional roadside African curio market – a treasure trove for souvenir hunters.

The park itself consists of 55,000 hectares of land. As well as the Big Five, it is home to over 10,000 animals and 364 fascinating bird species.
