Radisson Blu Caledonien Hotel, Kristiansand

Kristiansand’s Shopping

When staying at Radisson Blu Caledonien Hotel, Kristiansand the distance is short to the city’s main shopping street, Markens. In addition to this, you are also close to public transport to the large shopping area “Sørlandsparken”, around 12 kilometres from the city’s core. Here shopping centres and large shops stand side by side, offering anything the heart could desire from interior, fashion and more. It is worth mentioning that the shopping centre “Sørlandssenteret” in 2013 was named the largest in Norway.

In addition to being the main shopping street, Markens is also Kristiansand’s main artery. From the sea, it stretches all the way up to the forest. Along it you will find a square with fruit and vegetable stalls, and a large selection of shops, and shopping centres. The side streets are also packed with life and exciting niche shops.

Posebyen
In the corner of Kvadraturen, the centre of Kristiansand, you will find Posebyen. This area of the city is the largest collection of low, adjoining wooden houses from the 1700s and 1800s. Its name was given by French soldiers who came here to ‘reposier’ or relax’, which it can be translated into. This pretty quarter is a great place to take a slow walk around, but shopping-wise Saturday is the day to visit. Together with amateurs, local artists set up booths in the streets, creating what is called the Poseby Market. Hunt for used treasures, antiquities, handicrafts or good food at this marvel of a market between the two streets Kristian IVs gate and Kronprinsens gate.

Staying centrally in Kristiansand
Kristiansand’s choice of shopping attracts shoppers from all over the county. With such a variety of shops you can pretty much find anything here. Maybe it is that little special something or just the joy of finding those small local boutiques that triggers the shopping gene. Regardless of what you are looking for, this city has it.

After a long day of shopping, nothing is as practical as accommodation at the central Radisson Blu Caledonien Hotel, Kristiansand. When the bags start weighing too much, return to the hotel and drop them off, before heading out for more. It is always great to have a place to kick of the shoes and relax between shopping sprees and adventures. Beautiful recreational areas are also close to the hotel, such as Odderøya, Baneheia and Ravnedalen.
