Sea Point is one of Cape Town’s most affluent residential areas which has also become a popular hangout with visitors to the city. Set on the edge of the mighty Atlantic Ocean, this suburb offers magnificent coastal views. The area is a hot spot for cafes, restaurants, shops, pubs and clubs. It offers some of the best nightlife venues in the city and is known even for its carnival atmosphere. There is also a more tranquil side to this delightful suburb.
Sea Point Promenade
Most of the action is found on the Sea Point Promenade. There is no shortage of sidewalk eateries or places to sit back and relax with refreshments. If you would like to keep up with some exercise during your holidays then this is the perfect place, popular with joggers and skaters. You couldn’t ask for nicer surroundings on your daily run. The beach is a haven for sunbathers and many come here to spend the day relaxing and browsing shops nearby.
Open-air Swimming Pool
Amidst the bustling city of Cape Town is perhaps one of the best seaside highlights: the Promenade Swimming Pool. A great attraction for locals and visitors, it provides fun for the whole family. This public facility offers a 50m Olympic sized pool, two kids pools and a diving pool with a 5m board, and it's open all year round. Whether you are a recreational swimmer or in for some serious training, this is a great place so spend time, although the pools are unheated, which can be a challenge during winter. The ocean views from here are spectacular.
In the heart of this lively suburb you will find the Radisson Blu Le Vendome Hotel, Cape Town. This is the ideal place to explore the city from and the Atlantic Seaboard is minutes away. Also nearby, you will find the V&A Waterfront, the cosmopolitan harbour area.
