At check-in, the receptionist gave me the wrong room, so that when I opened the door there was another guest (a middle aged man; I'm a 25 year old woman) on the bed, which was incredibly disturbing to me and disruptive to the other guest. How was that even possible? I booked a superior room and it was nowhere near that. Not only was the decor extremely dated, but many things were broken - Phone by the bed was broken. I called using the desk phone to ask them to fix it, and asked them to do so at a certain time when I was out of the room, but they asked me to call back closer to that time instead of just making a note. - Air conditioning was not working well. I put it on 32 degrees, and after many hours it was still nowhere near that, so I had to call for an additional blanket. - I asked to borrow a power adapter since I came with US plugs, and they insisted that I bring cash to give to the guy who brought it as a deposit. I was able to convince them to put it on my bill, but I was surprised by that (a 4 star hotel should not be asking for cash deposits for things borrowed). At check-out, after I described the issues, the receptionist did not take any of it seriously beyond a cursory "sorry." That was incredibly disappointing.

A good time with lovely hotel staff who try and make it truly comfortable by being helpful and friendly always. Truly a happy memorable stay which was made more special by the good options suggested which worked for us

Great experience and food especially the breakfast buffet was excellent with various selection of meals. The staff too are corteous, respectful and clean. They are prompt to attend to issues and very friendly.

This four star hotel is better yhan many of the five star London hotels that I have stayed in. the location is excellent the saff are well trained and thoroughly professional. i have recommended the Portman to numerous friends and colleagues

Good service, the hotel is clean and is close to Oxford Street. The room is fine but so small and noisy at night the restaurant is great. checkin / checkout very fast, the hotel has no animation at night. the wifi is not very fast
