We were 2 couples who checked in, One of the rooms given to us was a twin bedded one. How can you allot a twin bedded room to a couple. All the telephones in the room were not working, How do you expect guests to contact anyone without telephones. The air conditioner was not working and when complained they came to see it and said no it was working and when insisted they brought out a thermometer and checked the temperature and then confirmed it was not working. The minibar was locked, didn't understand the reason why. I always assumed being a carlson hotel it would maintain international standards, But they were not even met to the minimum. The best part of the stay was that most of the people who were coming to the room for repairs couldn't speak a bit of English, were you assuming everyone who checks in could speak Tamil? There were staff trying to repair the room till 1.30AM in the morning and then they finally decided to change the room when insisted. Way too short of space during breakfast and way too understaffed to handle the breakfast rush, we were literally suffer into the Bar next to the waters edge cafe for Breakfast with minimal or no service at all. We are staying at the Temple bay and were told that the Wharf is the best place for dinner. We were told that the restaurant would be very busy and we would need prior reservation. Me and my friend made an effort to walk down to the restaurant to confirm the reservation and were happy that we were allowed a table facing the sea. When we arrived on time for dinner we were surprised to see that we were allowed a table at the corner, when confronted the staff was so adamant and finally agreed to put us on our reserved table after 15minutes. To begin with, The napkins on the table were stinking like S..T, its was such a disgusting smell. When were shifted to the other table it was again the same condition. It looked like they weren't washed for ages. It was just not acceptable when dining in such an Expensive restaurant. The view from the restaurant was just amazing, and luckily it was a full moon day and we could have a great view of the coastline. The food was ok, it seemed to me like it took ages to be served. The lack of service is clearly evident, they are way understaffed and can't handle when the restaurant is even half full. We had to raise our hand for like 10 minutes to get the attention of the waiters. Its a way overrated place which doesn't deserve this much of Hype. The only good point of the place is the location and the view other than that is a waste of time and money Overall a horrifying experience and would never come back or refer people to come here. I will definitely take them up to the carlson group and actually do expect a complete refund for the trip.
