Dubai Desert Classics
Dubai Desert ClassicsEach year the biggest golf professionals flock to Dubai for the much anticipated Desert Classics Tournament. Promoted and organized by Golf in Dubai, the tournament is fondly referred to as the “Major of the Middle East”, due to its longevity and world-class field of players that it attracts every year. The first tournament was held in 1989, where Mark James of England emerged victorious, and since then 22 players from 12 different nations have won.
World class greensThe Desert Classics are hosted by the Emirates Golf Club, which boasts two of the city’s absolute finest courses: The Majlis and the Faldo. Players can also indulge in a 9-hole par 3 course, golf academy, a gym and a tropical swimming pool as well as on-site restaurants and bars for spectators and players alike. The tournament itself plays on the Majlis par 72 course, with long fairways, desert flora, seven lakes and a challenging uphill dogleg 8th hole. US-based magazine Golf Digest named this pitch one of the world’s top 100 courses meaning you are in for a treat both as a spectator and participant.
