Oman’s beautiful beaches
Oman's beaches are considered some of the finest in the Gulf, and attract thousands of visitors to the sultanate each year. The country’s sprawling coastline means that a rich array of leisure activities take place all year round, which means there is always something to keep you entertained. Enjoy the beautiful scenery while lapping up the sun, catch some sporting events or take part in water sports.
Where to find the best beaches
Many of the most popular beaches in Oman are located in the northeast of the sultanate, just a short drive from the Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat. The most popular beaches are AlQurum, as it is very central, and Qantab beach further to the East. The hotel is a 15 minute drive from AlQurum and about 30 minutes from Qantab.
AlQurum Beach is one of the most picturesque in the capital, providing stunning views of the sunset, as well as providing BBQ facilities on its golden sands. The boardwalk has many nice restaurants and cafes for when you are in need of a refreshment and the area is kept very clean.
If you are traveling with the whole family, then you should also make the trip to Qantab Beach. Here you can take a boat trip with locals along the coast line to see some of the country’s incredible wildlife as well as enjoy a day on the sand. The water is blue and the rocky mountains creeping into the water make for wonderful pictures.
Sports and events by the water
The beaches in Muscat have become popular sporting venues in recent years, meaning you may be able to catch an event when visiting. Recently the Beach Handball Championships were held here, as well as the Beach Soccer World Cup. If you would rather take part in water sports yourself, then hire out jet skis or go snorkeling.
