The Royal Opera House Muscat
Opera in Muscat is synonymous with the Royal Opera House. One of only two such houses in the Arabic countries, the Muscat Opera House is one of the musical and cultural centers of the Sultanate of Oman and a popular attraction in the city. Even if time doesn’t allow for an evening watching a show, this beautiful building is a sight worth seeing. With the allure of a grand palace and intricate detailing, all the way to the ceiling, a walk through will make you feel like royalty.
Attending a show
The Royal Opera House opened in 2011. Located in the Shatti Al Qurum district, this impressive structure was built in contemporary Omani style and has a capacity of 1,100 people. It is the first of its kind in the world to feature the Radio Marconi multimedia interactive display seatback system, providing the audience with an unrivalled operatic experience.
This iconic venue regularly hosts performances from some of the world's leading classical artists, such as Jose Carreras, Plácido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. You are welcome to take a tour of the incredible inside of this influential cultural platform and once done, walk to the Opera Galleria. This is where you can do some shopping in style in the house itself. Artistic brands and quaint coffee shops wait for you at the Galleria.
Located just five minutes from the sea and offering fantastic views of the Al Hajar Mountains, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Muscat is the ideal place to return after attending a performance. Relax in first-class accommodation, revitalize yourself at the exclusive in-house health club or enjoy sumptuous meals at one of the hotel's lavish restaurant and bars. This four-star hotel is the place to stay in the city.
