Since 2008 it has been bringing the Bard's masterpieces to this historic city, and gaining critical acclaim for their dazzling interpretations. If you love theatre or are simply eager to witness Shakespeare's greatest works in the unforgettable surroundings of Prague, be sure to catch one of the company's thrilling performances during your stay.

Prague Shakespeare Company

Based at the historic Divadlo Kolowrat (Kolowrat Theatre), an intimate space within the Kolowratský Palace, the PSC is a group of theatre professionals dedicated to entertaining audiences in the Czech Republic and beyond. Although Prague has a vibrant theatre scene and a long tradition of performing Shakespeare in translation, the PSC was the first group to step up and meet the demand for professional English-language productions of Shakespeare's plays and other classical works in the Czech capital.

Successful collaborations

Under the direction of founder and Artistic Director Guy Roberts, the company regularly stages bold and successful collaborations with a variety of theatre groups, venues and other arts organizations in Prague and abroad, including memorable outdoor summer productions at the UNESCO-listed Vyšehrad Castle, overlooking the Vltava River in Prague. Over the years they have built a loyal audience of local theatre fans, expats, tourists and critics from around the world.

Continuing Shakespeare’s legacy

Performing predominantly in English, with Czech surtitles, the PSC plays an important role in interpreting the works of the Bard for modern audiences, with productions that are both accessible and cutting-edge. The company also hosts a variety of theatre workshops, classes and lectures to help foster a new generation of theatre-goers and professionals to ensure that Shakespeare's creations continue to be enjoyed for years to come.
