Mountfitchet Castle, reconstructed on the original site after being overgrown for 700 years, is steeped in history. The site is originally thought to be an Iron Age fort, and the castle was built in the 11th century, after the Normans attacked. Listen to spooky reports of hauntings at the castle that span its 3000-year history.
The Norman VillageYou can wander the grounds of the Norman Village of 1066 within the castle walls and explore the houses and ancient artefacts of the motte. There are several free-roaming animals too!
The House on the Hill Toy MuseumThe House on the Hill Toy Museum boasts the world’s largest toy collection. The collection ranges from Victorian times to the 1990s, and has something for everyone, big and small. If you make the trip, don’t forget to check out the Haunted Manor and the Dinosaurs!
